Although not a class-leader when it comes to maximum power, the stock GTI nevertheless impresses with how it delivers its 155kw (211hp) and handles itself on the road. Not entirely satisfied, Wimmer RS went about securing a massive 284kw (386hp) and torque of 455Nm from the turbo unit. They did it by installing an optimised turbo charger with manifold, and using a sports catalytic converter. The ECU, fuel pump, piston rods, intercooler and cat-back exhaust system were also modified. The attainable maximum speed is now 267km/h (166mph), up from 240km/h (149 mph). A choice of 18-inch, 19-inch and 20-inch rims can be fitted. A special set of 8×20 wheels with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT 235/30 ZR 20 high performance tyres is available as the range-topper.

Based on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS road car, the racer is powered by a larger 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine and has a maximum power output of 480bhp. The engine powers the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. The GT3 R is built by Porsches Motorsport Department at the Weissach Development Centre. It replaces the outgoing 911 GT3 Cup S and changes over that model include a wider track, with flared wheel arches. It also features LED lights and weighs in at just 1200kg. Tech features include ABS and traction control. Deliveries to customers and teams will begin early next year, after the car makes its debut at the Autosport International show in January. It will cost from 279000 euro (£249000) excluding local taxes.

German tuner Mcchip has extended the power and torque band provided by the Ford Focus RS to the extreme. The standard front-wheel-drive RS already gives a good 224kw (305hp) and 440Nm of torque through its 6-speed manual gearbox. Mcchip engineers have sought to increase this substantially via two stages of tuning. The first involves only the remapping of control software for a hike of 30kw to 254kw (345hp). Newton metres go up to 520Nm. No 0 – 100km/h figures were supplied but top speed is rated at 271km/h. Power stage 2 sees the inclusion of an enhanced intercooler, special spark plugs, more engine electronics modifications, a sports exhaust system and a new inlet manifold. These actions take matters to 295kw (401hp) and maximum torque of 612Nm. Peak velocity grows slightly to 278km/h (173mph). Power stage 1 costs €799 while Power stage 2 will set you back €4499. By making all these changes Mcchip believes it has created not just a significant speed machine but also a useable everyday sports car.

Toyota FT-86 G Sports Concept Revealed at Tokyo Auto Salon – Gran Turismo 5 Trailer HD Song: Bad Azz – Ghetto Star Instrumental Enjoy & Comment! A new concept from the world’s largest automaker has been revealed in person and virtually. The Toyota FT-86 G Sports Concept was introduced to the public at the Tokyo Auto Salon, and is proudly featured in the new trailer for Gran Turismo 5. The car’s debut also marks the introduction of the “G Sports” badge. Toyota plans to use the badge in series of cars modified by motorsports firm Gazoo Racing to be released only in Japan. One upgrade on the car was the addition of a turbocharger to the Subaru-made 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine. Body modifications include a wider, and smoothed-out front bumper that leads to wider wheel arches. A new front spoiler can also be seen at the bottom. The car’s hood, now with air vents, is made from carbon fiber. The car has a new rear spoiler sitting on top of the decklid, which now includes a new strip of lighting. The rear bumper is more squared off, with a diffuser that brings the dual exhaust pipes to the center. This concept sits on 19-inch alloy wheels wearing Potenza high-performance tires. Recaro seats round off the package. No performance specs were revealed for the Toyota FT-86 G Sports Concept.
