  • Fox Inked Gear: Superior Protection For Motorcycle and Bicycle Riders

Riding outdoors is a complicated affair, and sometimes risky if the rules of the road and proper safety are ignored. Because of this, efforts are put into ensuring that those who ply the roads will have proper and sufficient protection for themselves to keep them and other road users out of harm’s way. The dangers posed on travelers are especially serious if the vehicle in question is either a motorcycle or a bicycle, both of which demand balance at all times.

The Thrill of Riding a Motorcycle

Riding a motorcycle is a truly thrilling experience. There is probably nothing that compares with the experience when you feel the wind rushing past your ears, sometimes creating that whistling sound when one reaches higher speeds. On the other hand, a bicycle is a nimble machine, and anyone who uses it must be equally nimble in maneuvering it. Compared to a motorcycle, a bicycle can get you anywhere on brute human strength. Both machines are appreciated for their ability to navigate the tightest of passageways deemed impassable for other vehicles.

Protective Gears for a Safe Travel

No one who uses either a motorcycle or a bicycle can be fully protected. As such, it is always important for everyone to observe proper safety measures to avoid disasters or to mitigate the effect of one. When it comes to road safety, one company that gives a complete line of protection for motorcycle and bicycle users is Fox Inked Gear. Fox Inked Gear is the brand of choice for motorcycle and bicycle users because of the proven quality of their products.

    Fox Inked Gear’s Top-sellers

The Lexan lens is also resistant to scratching. It has a removable nose guard, and the interior is padded with foam that wicks away moisture.

    ▪ Fox Inked Gear helmet. This helmet is designed according to the latest standards in road safety. An extended visor and chin guard protects the wearer’s face and nose from hitting the ground in case of an accident. The helmet is made from durable hard plastic that will not disintegrate during impact. The stylish design features flame-red configuration.

    ▪ Fox Inked jerseys. This will protect your body from accumulating dust especially in off-road races. The jersey is made from a material that allows great ventilation.

    ▪ Fox Inked pants and shorts. These are fashionable articles of clothing even when one is off the race track. They come in flame red color or a similar black-and-white configuration.

Fox Inked Gear products are preferred not only for the quality of their material or for the stylish design they flaunt, but because they also can be worn outside races. No wonder then that Fox Inked Gear products figure prominently in motocross races as well as in off-road biking.

  • Pmi Gold Gears for Gold Production in Ghana

With the ink barely dry on its latest African acquisition, PMI Gold Corp.

(TSX.V: PMV) is now looking for the big money that will get its gold properties into production.

PMI Gold president Douglas MacQuarrie says he’s currently trying to raise $53 million to see the new Kubi property, as well as the Obotan site, up and running within two years.

The properties, in the lucrative Golden Triangle in the West African nation of Ghana, have both been mined profitably in the past by industry giants from open pits.

PMI Gold finalized its deal for Kubi with a subsidiary of Canada’s Nevsun Resources Ltd. just last month, issuing 9,000,000 common shares to Nevsun to give that company an 11.6% stake in PMI Gold.

AngloGold Ashanti had worked the Kubi property on option from Nevsun from 1999 to 2005, taking out 500,000 tonnes of 3.65g/t Au for nearly 59,000 ounces of gold.

According to an NI 43-101 report completed in August, Kubi contains an indicated resource of 5.13 million tonnes, grading 3.66 g/t Au for 604,085 ounces of gold, and an inferred resource of 5.38 million tonnes, grading 1.88 g/t Au for 315,079 ounces of gold.

Kubi, covering 19.16 square kilometers in the Ashanti Gold Belt, is just 20 km south of AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi mine, in operation for 110 years.

Kubi is also 46 km southeast of PMI Gold’s Obotan property, lying in the Asankrangwa Gold Belt. PMI Gold picked up the property in Nov. 2006, after Resolute Mining of Perth, Australia shut its open-pit operation in 2003 when the price of gold fell below US$320 per ounce.

A total of 730,000 ounces of gold had been produced at Obotan, with 590,000 ounces of an approximate grade of 2.2g/t gold from the Nrkan pit, and a further cumulative 140,000 ounces from the Adubiaso and Abore pits.

“Kubi is closer to production than Obotan as it already has a mining lease,”

MacQuarrie wrote in an e-mail from Europe, where he is attending trade shows.

“Obotan is a prospecting license which needs to be upgraded to a mining lease.”

“Also at Kubi,” he went on, “the mineralization is at a higher confidence level – in the NI 43-101-indicated category.”

PMI Gold doesn’t yet have in independent resource calculation for Obotan, MacQuarrie wrote, but in-house estimates look good. “Quite frankly, we are so positive that we have ore bodies at both Kubi and Obotan, we will commence the development work as soon as we have the funds.”

“We are now in the market to raise $3 million in equity and $50 million in convertible debt or project financing to put both of them in production over the next 2 years.”

PMI Gold is planning small-scale underground mining to get at the ore still left from the open-pit work. AngloGold Ashanti trucked its Kubi ore to Obuasi for processing, and PMI Gold is looking to do something similar.

“Given that the Obotan orebody is the larger – and part of a 70 km string of concessions we control where we hope to make many more discoveries – it makes sense to locate (the processing plant) there and truck the high grade Kubi ore to Obotan,” MacQuarrie wrote.

As well, the Supuma Shelter Belt Forest Reserve covers 45% of the Kubi concession, so off-site processing, along with underground mining outside the reserve, will let the company by-pass any reserve development controversy.

Highlights of the final assay results released in August from an eight-hole, 2,539-metre drill program completed on Obotan include 44.5 m. of 2.61 g/t gold in hole NK07-001, which tested the down dip extension of the Nkran pit ore body 330 meters below the base of the previously mined pit. Another intercept graded 8.91 g/t gold over 2.7 m, collared 170 m to the south of the southern end of the pit.

Ghana is Africa’s second largest gold producer, recently attracting US$1.5 billion in committed foreign investment. The bulk of the country’s 90 million ounces of gold production has come from the Ashanti and Bibiani Gold Belts.

Interest in the lesser-known Asankrangwa Gold Belt perked up about a dozen years ago after the first modern airborne magnetic survey over southwest Ghana picked out major deformation zones and cross structures that were spatially related both to Ashanti’s Obuasi mine and to the historical gold mines and showings that define the belt.

PMI Gold, working in the country since 2003, now controls a 70-kilometre length of the Asankrangwa Gold Belt in 12 concessions/options totaling 484 sq km, and a mining lease and two concessions/options totaling 214 sq km on the Ashanti Gold Belt.

“We have a lot on our plate at the moment,” MacQuarrie acknowledged. But that doesn’t mean he’d pass up another good buy.

“I have a saying – that when I am no longer interested in new acquisitions, then it’s time for me to retire. And I am not ready for that.”

  • “Tis The Season

    ‘Tis the Season
    By Maria Macfarlane

Let the celebration begin!  The earnest Thanksgiving Holiday is over.  Now the colorful Christmas Season is upon us and the change of gears is a welcome respite at the end of a long year.  It is a time for joyous diversions…. to be festive, to socialize and to partake in some well-deserved merrymaking. But it’s not only about parties and decorations, is it? Although we are commemorating an occasion rich in tradition, ritual and pageantry, our focus also encompasses a general sense of goodwill and appreciation for loved ones.

It is so difficult not to let the materialistic aspect of the season spiral out of control.  In this age of entitlement, many children expect so much.  As busy mothers, the entire process can become an exercise in empty platitudes where we tend to just go through the motions.  In the rush to find that perfect present, it’s not hard to lose sight of what we truly want our generosity to say to our kids.

A more conservative connotation of the word, “celebrate,” means to display or make known / to rejoice through ceremony or respect.  If we take a moment to strategically inject some sincere sentiment into the holiday proceedings, we might be able to actually infuse some much needed balance. The presentation of gifts can be framed within the context of showing our children how much we appreciate their good deeds and accomplishments. It’s a natural fit.  We can sing their praises and engage in positive reinforcement.  We let them know that we value the effort they have made throughout the year…and the giving of gifts is a part of that acknowledgement.

The Holiday Season is the perfect platform for parents to recognize their children’s virtues.  “Santa knows if you’ve been naughty or nice” but we, as parents, would also like to say to our kids, ”thank you for all the good that you have done this year.”  We can psychologically, emotionally and tangibly reward them for their efforts. The Holiday Season is a safe, convenient opportunity to reach out, put aside our differences and openly tell our children how important they are in our lives.  What an amazing time of year!  Beyond the religious /cultural reference points, we extol the love of family, demonstrate our gratitude for what we have and possess a profound wish to extend happiness to others.

So in the frenzy that surrounds us right now, let’s try to remember that we are not only observing a holiday, but we are recognizing all that is good in our lives.  Our celebration can take many forms and our children are at the epicentre of all the excitement.   The pleasure comes from enjoying the fun “with” them… we delight in the spirit of a celebration that is geared specifically “for” them … and the magic of the season emanates ”from”  them.

My sincerest wish for all of you is that this holiday season will bring you a sense of fulfillment that will enlighten and inspire you now and throughout the entire year.

    Happy Holidays

  • Monaco Gears up for Grand Prix

The F1 Grand Prix circus roars into Monaco on 25th May for one of the biggest sports events of the year.

Monaco may be the second smallest country in the world – only Vatican City home to the Pope is smaller – but it plays host to one of the greatest sporting spectacles on earth – the Monaco Grand Prix.

Not only is the Grand Prix a must see sporting event, it’s also an essential part of the social calendar, just like the Epsom Derby, Henley Regatta and Wimbledon. The race takes place on the sinuous streets of Monte Carlo and last year was won by Spain’s Fernando Alonso driving a McLaren, with Britain’s sporting idol Lewis Hamilton second, and Felipe Massa in a Ferrari third.

Tickets for the Monaco Grand Prix can be hard to come by, but the first port of call is the Automobile Club of Monaco which organises the race. Tickets can also be purchased from ticket booths set up for the race weekend. However, if you don’t manage to find tickets from these sources there are other ways of getting a grandstand view.

Many residents of Monaco rent out their terraces and balconies for the Grand Prix, but these don’t come cheap. Prices typically range from about 8000 euro to 140,000 euro for the four days of the event including the practice and qualifying sessions starting on 22nd May. Try looking on ebay or in newspapers such as the Nice Monaco Matin and Herald Tribune.

A cheaper way of watching the Monaco Grand Prix can be to book a meal at one of the restaurants and hotels lining the race circuit. Here you can enjoy lunch on the terrace while watching Lewis Hamilton speeding past in his McLaren. Expect to pay anything between around 90 euro to 500 euro for lunch with a view on race day.

Several of the luxury hotels Monaco is famous for have views of the Grand Prix circuit. Best known of all is probably the fabulous five star Hotel de Paris Monte Carlo in Casino Square. This luxury hotel has only 191 rooms so you’ll have to book well in advance if you want to enjoy the opulence and excellent service that has attracted many celebrities.

No short break in Monaco is complete without a trip to the world famous Monte Carlo Casino. Whether gambling is your thing or you just want to indulge in some celebrity spotting, the Casino is a great place for a night out offering slots, roulette, craps, blackjack and poker plus bars and restaurants and a cabaret.

As well as numerous bars and nighclubs, Monte Carlo also has a thriving cultural scene. Popular choices for a night out are the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Opera of Monte Carlo, and Les Ballets de Monte Carlo.

One of the many celebrities with a pad in Monaco is easyJet founder, Stelios Haji-Ioannou. Lots of the F1 drivers also have a home here. Stelios’ low cost airline easyJet is just one of the airlines offering flights to Nice airport, most convenient airport for Monaco.

Race goers travelling from the UK have a choice of flights to Nice. easyJet fly there from Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and Edinburgh airports. From Heathrow airport there’s the choice of BA (which also flies from Gatwick) and bmi. Passengers from Manchester airport can fly with Jet2.com, while bmibaby serves Birmingham airport and East Midlands airport. Budget airline Flyglobespan offers flights from Glasgow airport to Nice. From Nice airport a helicopter can whizz you into Monte Carlo in less than 10 minutes.

Another popular way to travel to Monaco is by boat or ship. The floating gin palaces – or luxury motoryachts such as Sunseekers and Princess yachts – are a familiar sight in the harbour at Monte Carlo on race day. If you can’t quite stretch to one of these there is a boat service from the nearby port of St Jean Cap Ferrat to Monte Carlo.

Monaco is also a popular port of call for many Mediterranean cruises. Several cruise lines visit Monaco including Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Silversea Cruises and Crystal Cruises.

It’s probably not a good idea to travel to Monaco by road during the Grand Prix event, however. Access is very difficult and there is no car parking available. Better to leave the driving to Hamilton, Alonso, Massa and the boys.
